In the South, we make Snow Cream. This sweet, creamy, vanilla frosted treat is only possible on the rare occasions when the heavens open up and rain down plenty of fluffy, white winter manna. So, when the weatherman calls for snow, I set my biggest bowl on the deck and hope for plenty!

For the Snow Cream First-Timers
- Make sure your snow is just that. If the snow is mixed with freezing rain or sleet, you won’t achieve the ideal texture.
- Set your largest bowl/s outside to catch the snow before it starts falling so you don’t miss any flakes. Don’t be left to scrape fallen snow off of your car or deck for your primary ingredient – eww!
- The snow will deflate tremendously when you add the other ingredients, so be sure to collect plenty of fresh, pristine snow!
- Like manna… Snow Cream doesn’t keep. It’ll turn into a brick in the freezer, so eat up while it’s fresh!!
- Stay warm however you must while you enjoy your snow day treat! Put on all of your flannel, sit in a hot tub, snuggle your dog with a warm blanket – whatever it takes. So worth it!

Ingredients
When the weatherman forecasts snow in the South, people dart to grocery store to load up on bread and milk before hunkering down for the snow day/s. Nobody knows what anyone does with all of that bread and milk. You really just need cream, confectioner’s sugar, and pure vanilla!
- Cream – adds richness and creaminess to Snow Cream.
- Confectioner’s Sugar – ensures smooth sweetness! Granulated sugar may not dissolve in the frosted mixture.
- Vanilla – good quality, pure extract creates the yummiest flavor.
